About Makhana & Health
The good-for-you stuff
Is makhana actually healthy?
Yes. Makhana (foxnuts / phool makhana) is naturally low in fat, plant-based, gluten-free and a good source of protein and minerals. Ours is roasted in cold-pressed oil rather than deep-fried, and made with no palm oil, no maida and no MSG — so it stays a genuinely clean, light snack. It is a food, not a medicine, so we do not make disease-cure claims.
Is your makhana roasted or fried?
Roasted, never fried. Every batch is slow-roasted in cold-pressed oil to get the crunch without the grease of deep-frying. That is the whole point of the brand.
Where is your makhana sourced from?
Our foxnuts are handpicked from the lotus ponds of Madhubani in Bihar — the traditional home of phool makhana — and then roasted and packed in Delhi under our FSSAI licence.
Is The Makhana FSSAI certified?
Yes. We operate under FSSAI Licence No. 23326005001818. You will find the same licence number printed on our packaging and in our site footer.
Our Products & Quality
What's in the pack
Is your makhana vegetarian and gluten-free?
Yes. Our makhana is 100% vegetarian and naturally gluten-free. We do not use palm oil, maida or MSG in any flavour.
How should I store makhana to keep it crunchy?
Keep the pack in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, and once opened, seal it tightly or transfer to an airtight container. Because there are no artificial preservatives, always reseal after each use to keep it fresh and crunchy.
What is the shelf life of your makhana?
Each pack carries a clear best-before date on the label. For the best taste and crunch, we recommend finishing an opened pack within a few weeks and storing it airtight in the meantime.
What flavours and pack sizes do you offer?
We offer roasted flavoured makhana such as Peri Peri Punch, plain Raw Phool Makhana for home cooking, and a Variety Combo so you can try more than one. You can see the current line-up and pack sizes on our Shop page.
Do you add preservatives or artificial colours?
No. We keep the label clean — no palm oil, no maida, no MSG and no artificial colours. Just handpicked foxnuts, cold-pressed oil and honest spices.
